Tabula Rasa Records is proud to announce the release of Thank You, Dream Girl, a special collaboration between the label, Drew Daniel of Matmos, and Travis Stewart AKA Machinedrum. Read on to learn more about *the* official Hit ’Em compilation, a months-long project born from one man’s dream and brought to life by the creativity of many.

Thank You, Dream Girl is a 27-track compilation that distills the essence of the “hit ‘em” phenomenon—a genre of 212 BPM, in 5/4 time with super crunched-out sounds, ‘dreamed up by Drew that quickly ignited an online frenzy. Releasing on the San Francisco-based experimental dance label, the collection brings together a spectrum of electronic and experimental sounds, from the intense, high-energy punch of tracks like Eprom’s “The Search” to the meditative atmospheres of Machinedrum and The Soft Pink Truth's "Oneironaut.” Curated by Daniel and Stewart, each track showcases how widespread the genre has evolved from a viral tweet to a new sound that blurs the line between rave, IDM, breakcore, and hyperpop. Inhabiting a liminal space between viral joke and conceptual provocation while offering a snapshot of how a formal challenge can trigger creativity from the very online, "hit ‘em" embodies the tension between artistry and the pressures of algorithm-driven visibility, turning a tweet’s open-ended template into a fully realized sound and scene, with distinct microgenres and its own accelerated discourse. Proceeds from the compilation will be donated to Musicians Foundation.
